About Tae Kwon Do

Taekwondo (태권도; 跆拳道) is a Korean martial art and the national sport of Korea. In Korean, tae means “to strike or break with foot”; kwon means “to strike or break with fist”; and do means “way,” “method,” or “art.” Thus, taekwondo may be loosely translated as “the way of the foot and fist.”

One of the only two martial arts certified as full medal Olympic sports, Taekwondo is practiced by over 70 million people throughout the world.
